At a special meeting of Oneka Lodge, No. 346, held at their lodge-room in the room in the village of Nyack, on Wednesday evening, October 15ih, the following Preamble and Resolutions, drawn up by a committee consisting of Messrs. J. W. Hutton and Wm. B. Collins, relating to the recent death of our late Brother, John W. Lvdecker, who departed this life at Rio de Janeiro on the 13th of August and last, after a brief illness of 9 days, were unanimously adopted : Whereas, It has pleased the Supreme Ruler of the universe to remove from among us, by death, our beloved Brother JOHN W. LYDECKER, while yet in , early life and full of joyous anticipations of the future, thus depriving our society and the Order of a worthy member, and your whereas, at the time of his death he be ing absent from among us, we were not permitted to be present to administer to his wants or perform the last rites due to him on earth, yet it is a source of great consolation to us to know that his wants were all cared for during his last Resolved, That we the brothers of this Lodge while bowing to the decree of Providence which bus taken him from among us, lament with a deep sorrow the early and unexpected death of one whose manly and social virtues gave promise of future usefulness, and whose memory is endeared to us by his many acts of kindness, of love and fidelity. Resolved, That we sincerely regret that the distance which separated our brother from his family and his home during his final sickness, deprived us of the melancholy duty of attending his remains to their last resting place. Resolved, That we do most earnestly sympathise with the family of our deceased Brother in the afflicting dispensation which has cast the dark shadow of the valley of death over their home, and that we truly feel with them that in our loss they have to bewail also an affectionate son and a kind brother. Resolved, That the Lodge room be clothed in mourning for three months, as _ a token of respect to our deceased Brother, and as an admonition to us of the shortness and uncertainty of life. Resolved, That the proceedings be en- tered in full upon the minutes and a copy signed by the officers ofthe Lodge, be transmitted to the family of deceased . and also to the Rockland County Jour- . nal for publication.
