CAPT. ELLIOTT DEAD.
Died of Apoplexy at the Rockland County Alms House. Capt. Joliu Elliott, an old man well known in Nyack for many years, died on Tuesday at the Rockland County Almshouse, aged 73 years. He boarded in Nyack for a long time until finally being ill and without means, he was taken to the almshouse. Capt. Elliott was a member of Oneko Lodge, No. 122, I. O. O. F., about 40 years, and during a long period he received benefits from that lodge. In 1863 he owned and sailed the schooner Van Blarcom deriving therefrom the title of Captain Funeral services were held at the gate house at the entrance to Oak Hill Cemetery, on Thursday, Jan. 21, at 2 p. m., under the auspices of Oneko Lodge. The members of the lodge met at the lodge room at. 1 p. m. on the above day, and marched up to Zimmerman's undertaking establishment, on Main street, whence they proceeded with the remains of their deceased brother to the cemetery. The friends were invited. Interment in the family plot.
